How to Become a Christian
The Bible says, "Everyone who calls on the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13). Salvation is a gift of God that is available to anyone. you can become a Christian anytime, anywhere, simply by talking to Jesus in prayer and asking Him to be your Savior. Your prayer should involve three statements. We call these the ABCs of becoming a Christian:
A Admit you are a sinner. Recognize that you have chosen your way instead of God's way and that you need a Savior. "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23, NIV).
B Believe that Jesus, God's only Son, died and rose again to save you from your sins. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16, NIV).
C Confess Jesus as Lord of your life. To become a Christian is to become a follower of Jesus. Commit yourself to live for Him and to obey His commands.
When you sincerely call upon God, He forgives your sin and comes into your life. You become a child of God. "To all who received him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:12, NIV). Your next step should be to confess your faith openly in church and be baptized as a Christian. Begin to read the Bible so that you can grow in your new Christian faith.
